How To Bring Your Local Business Online

Customers can come across your business from any given site. Examples are Google Plus, Linked In or Yelp. From these sites, the customers can get information such as contacts, education, recommendations, hours and reviews. On each of these channels, the information should convey a consistent message about your business.

Steps to create a holistic online identity of your business

The first step is diagramming your business presence online. For example, you can say that your business has a profile on Google Plus, Linked In and Yelp as well. After this, you can verify and make sure that on every channel, your customer is provided with the basics of your business and your product or service. Examples of these basics are your business address, phone numbers, rates, hours and email as well.

The second step is to integrate these channels with each other. You can do this by including links that give more information about your business. For example, on your Google Plus page, you can include links to your Linked In profile. Also, you can include links to your Yelp page on your Linked In profile. Thus, the point is to add links on each and every channel that your business is using on the internet. These links will create a web of information about your business on the channels that have your business profile on them.

Step three is to do research that will increase the value that you add to your products and services. Also, personalize your business by adding media such as photos showing customers that are happy and educational reports about the industry that you are in. After this, you can look at the information that is on each channel and try and discover if the information given on the channels satisfies the customers.

Local Business Online

The process of a business online presence

The customer can go through the first profile and see the pictures of happy customers that you have posted. For example, they can go through the Google Plus business profile and they can see that you are very connected. This shows that you are trusted online and have a following. However, the customer may want to know more about your business and your products or services but there is not enough information on the first channel. Thus the customer can click through to the next channel and see the information that is there. On this new channel, the customer can then see more information that answers his questions. The customer can then want to know more about the business itself or the business owner. For example, on your business Linked In profile, they can see your credentials and your business. If the channel that they are currently browsing does not answer that question, then the customer can go to another channel. For example, if the customer wants to know more about the services that the business has handled in the past, they can go through your Yelp profile.

The last step is to ensure that your online presence meets your customers’ needs and also increases your business revenue. The aims of your online presence are to increase visitors to your business profiles, engage these visitors, call them to action and then convert them into customers. Having holistic online presence for your business can successfully convert potential customers into repeat customers.

How To Differentiate your business from the competition

To ensure that your business stands out from your competitors, it is essential to research what common questions are being asked by customers.

Using as many online channels and social media outlets as possible, reading through customers’ questions and concerns and developing strong, effective answers to them are key in getting ahead.

These answers will be designed to answer current customer questions, target the individual concerns, and provide information to other potential and new customers. Common customer questions can include: What are the business’ credentials? Are other customers satisfied? Answering these questions effectively is imperative to getting an edge over your competition.

In addition to researching customers’ questions, it is helpful to research your competitor’s online profiles and see what yours will need to positively stand out.

YelpIn essence, all of the positive reviews and feedback on Yelp business page or G plus page you receive in regards to your business offline needs to be transferred online- this positive and satisfied feeling by customers will be more widely received by the online world and potential clients.

The more friendly and inter-personal you make your online presence, the greater edge you have over your competition: posting photos, taking videos with satisfied customers, and reinforcing the idea of your business being familial, not just corporate.

Customers want to spend money with someone they can relate to, someone personal- this will give you an incredible edge over your competition.

How to Build a Better Online Local Business: Tips and Ideas

1. Create a Google Plus page- This will help you to reach all of the Google traffic with ease, as well as taking first reviews from your customers and other users visiting your page. The Google Plus page also acts as a homepage, as you can post photos, posts/updates, videos, and create feedback discussions between you and your clients.

2. Expand your online presence- Once you have established your successful Google Plus Page, you can use posts and reviews from the page to see what other websites and pages people have previously used to find similar businesses. Since that establishes a basic market and competition, and you have access to what your customers are viewing, you can create pages on these websites to help increase your business’ views and traffic.

Some of these commonly visited websites include Yelp: best for a wide variety of reviews

Facebook: best for high numbers of personal referrals and discussions

Twitter: best for advertising real time information, as well as current deals/offers

3. After you have discovered the best websites in which to create profiles following your customer’s preferences, you need to do just that: create the best looking profiles. If you create a profile that looks fake, or is missing information, people will likely think of it as a scam or a bad business and will skip it in favor of others. You MUST include all the basics: your name, company name, phone number, email address, prices/rates, and the geographic area that you are located in.

4. Through engagement in these other websites after your profiles have been successfully created, you must let your customers know that you are online and are operating the same methods. Increasing customer engagement is key- much of the market is built online through reviews and referrals from other websites and from other customers.

Since communication is infinitely faster online, keeping up with your client base is vital in building your business to reach its maximum potential. Answering questions quickly and concisely, sticking to the point, and maintaining what it is your business stands for are all great ways to build strong customer engagement. Cross-linking all your channels (putting links to your other websites) is key to building strong engagement, getting the highest number of reviews, and creating a seamless business that your customers can participate in through any means they desire.

5. If using social media and other existing online channels aren’t generating enough business/traffic for you, or if you simply want to get even more customers, you can create your own website. It will take time to create a successful and well-planned website, but you will generate much more business and income. You can use web designers and people who have high degrees of technological skill to help build your site so it looks appealing, is easy to understand and follow, and leads to the most sales/customers for you and your business.

BEST PRACTICES TO REMEMBER: Feedback is key. As much as you can, get referrals and reviews from customers to continue growing your online presence.

In creating your own pages on different channels and subsequently your own website, make sure you have unique content and that each page, while maintaining the same message, has different comments and is worded differently. Don’t copy and paste from page to page. It looks tacky, and makes customers feel that you don’t care about your business. If you don’t have unique, good things to say about it, then why should they??
